4th October would have been the first day for me being back in Blighty though I was obviously tempting fate in some strange way as I’ve received a double hardware failure with both the hard-disk and CD/DVD drive on my not exactly old laptop (though admittedly well travelled) going kaputt. Using a very locked down Chinese version of Windows XP to get various things off the Internet to rebuild my sickly steed into something resembling functional using a new hard-disk proved most humbling.
I’ve unfortunately lost about 1 months worth of digital negatives of my travels which I hadn’t got round to backing up, though hopefully they should be recoverable. Those feeling pity and generous at the same time are more than welcome to contact me to throw a bit of spare change into the hard-disk data recovery fund via PayPal, should the task prove beyond my skills and need professionals with very specialised kit!
So any emails to me recently are probably going to go unanswered for a while as Internet connectivity is going to be a little difficult till I get the partially working laptop sorted (for some stupid reason I can’t access my mailbox via POP3-SSL anymore). In other news, I’ve decided to not cramp my uncle’s family anymore and shall be heading off to a hostel in Mong Kok to stay the remaining 30 days or so! :) Oh and it’s pleasing to see I own Google for “tai hang fire dragon dance” already! ;)
