[Auto Post] Going down under & missing the 18th!

Posted by Jonathan at 10:55:21 UTC on the 18th of July, 2005

This post in an automagical post, written at 07:40 UTC on 11th of July, 2005.

Alas this is no Freudian slip and rather the simple fact I will now be heading onwards to Australia: the land of koalas, kangeroos and Foster beer. ;)

This marks going past the halfway point as far as distance travelled is concerned plus the passing of the International Date Line westwards, which means I skip a day completely, leaving on the 17th and landing on the 19th after a flight of just a few hours!

Entry point is Brisbane and the exit is Melbourne… what happens in between is rather up in the air though I’m sure it will be figured out!

  1. Why fosters when your minutes away from the XXXX (four ex) Castlemaine brewery. Fosters is a southern beer. hehe

If you want to see animals theres Australia Zoo and Alma Park Zoo near brissie. Pity you are staying in the major cities, you see more of Australia in the smaller cities such as the north Queensland coast or near Uluru.

Near melbourne you can go to Ballarat which was a big gold mining city where the Eureka Stockade happened, the closest thing to a civil war Australia has ever had. Melbourne has the only working tram system in Australia, well Bendigo another gold mining town near melbourne also still has some but is used for tours. Their building a new pool for the 2006 commonwealth games in south melbourne which is next to a big parklands.
