Watch out 香港!

Posted by Jonathan at 19:30:49 UTC on the 14th of November, 2004

Yippee! The flight and accomodation in order for my good self to visit 香港 (Hong Kong) from the 5th of February 2005 till 26th of February 2005 is all booked! :D

Cost of the flight is pretty much what I expected though I will be flying Lufthansa and having stops at München and Frankfurt am Main on the outbound then inbound journeys. This is different from my intended route flying by either الإمارات (Emirates) or British Airways and do a stop in الإمارات العربيّة المتّحدة (United Arab Emirates) at دبي (Dubai) which would have split the flight into two parts of more manageable 7 hours each as opposed to the rather asymmetric 2 hours/11 hours arrangement if going via Germany.

Still, I get to fly from Birmingham International Airport and saves the rather awkward trek to London Heathrow! However, I won’t be doing the white knuckle landings flying between skyscrapers as 啟德國際機場 (Kai Tak International Airport) has long closed and will be landing at the much saner 赤鱲角機場 (Chek Lap Kok Airport). Both airports were each officially known as 香港國際機場 (Hong Kong International Airport) in their respective eras though, just to add to the confusion. ;)

Those 3 weeks are going to be pretty damn busy… can’t wait! :D

  2. Well, if you want to go somewhere, make it so… it’s not going to appear out of nowhere less you do something about it (mysterious rich benefactors notwithstanding). Something to strive for as they say…

This time round, I intend to have a laptop with me so I’ll be able to do updates whilst “on the road”, so hopefully there won’t be 9 month long lag!

The way Hong Kong grows, it’ll be more than likely that memory lane has long be smashed to bits and an 8 lane mega highway built in it’s place.

  3. Wayhey, finally getting out a bit, eh. :D
So, do I get to run the place while you’re away? ;) :P
It’s cool that you’ve got this though; I know how much it means to you. You better enjoy it mate. ;)

  4. Yeah… seems that getting my backside out of England (to Latvia) for the first time at the beginning of this year has opened Pandora’s box, not that that is a bad thing mind.

Of course, the big plan was to do 6 months backpacking with Nykky though I had in mind a slightly different set places to visit which weren’t really too compatible… so in the end she’s changed her plans, now doing 1 years worth of travelling and I’d have a little visit back to the occupied home then go visit her, where ever she is in the world (probably Oz) around the time of her birthday in July 2005 for her 30th. :D

As for running the show… which one? :P

  5. Well, the big one, duh. Though, I could add random blog entries on your behalf while you’re away too. ^____^;;;

I’m dissapointed at the lack of skyscraper-scraping though at the approach to the old HK International, that would’ve given you some pretty damn cool photos. :D

Speaking of blogs, I finally got an RSS feed up on mine, eheh.

  6. Hmmm, I doubt anyone in their right mind would actually want to run the big show. ;) & :P As for random blog entries… I think we respectively do that quite well at our own little domains. :D Plus I should have Intarweb™ access whilst I’m lost in Hong Kong…

Lack of skyscraper-scrapage is quite a disappointment, though that may not be such a bad thing as cross-winds were also quite an issue. :D As for cool photos… worry ye not as there’s plenty of other opportunities in the ex-Crown colony. :D

Talking of your RSS feed, I had already noticed. ;)
